He delivered a keynote presentation titled "HfZrSi Precursor Ceramic Thermal Insulation and Fire-Resistant Coating Technology," showcasing the company's latest technological advancements in extreme thermal environment protection.
Academic Summit Highlights Cutting-Edge Carbon-Based Composites
From 2026 7 to 29, the "8 Annual Academic Symposium on Multifunctional Carbon-Based Composites" was grandly held at Hilton Garden Inn Chengdu East Railway Station. The conference was organized by the Carbon-Based Composite Materials Branch of the China Society for Composite Materials, hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Powder Metallurgy and the National Engineering Research Center for Carbon/Carbon Composites, and co-organized by the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Aero Engine Materials Technology Institute, AECC; Central South University; Northwestern Polytechnical University; Tsinghua University; Harbin Institute of Technology; Aerospace Material & Process Research Institute; and Beijing University of Chemical Technology, among other research institutions.
The Conference Honorary Chair is Academician Huang Boyun of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The Conference Chair is Professor Xiong Xiang from Central South University, and the Executive Chair is Professor Zeng Yi from Central South University. The conference aims to advance academic innovation and collaborative breakthroughs in carbon-based composite materials, promote high-quality industrial development, and has attracted numerous experts and scholars from universities, research institutions, and enterprises across the country.
Professor Guo Fangwei delivers the keynote address

Professor Guo Fangwei, founder and chief scientist of Tianyi Quanan and from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was invited to attend the seminar and delivered a keynote presentation titled "HfZrSi Precursor Ceramic Thermal Insulation and Fire-Resistant Composite Coating Technology."
Professor Guo Fangwei graduated from the University of Manchester, UK, and currently serves as a Visiting Professor at ETH Zurich. He has dedicated his career to researching protective materials and coatings for extreme thermal environments. To date, he has led more than 20 national-level research projects, published over 110 SCI-indexed papers, secured 45 authorized patents, and received 7 provincial or ministerial-level science and technology innovation awards. His developed ZrSi precursor ceramic coating technology has been successfully applied since 2022 to the thermal protection systems of 46 Long March series launch vehicles in China, delivering significant engineering results.
In this report, Professor Guo Fangwei highlighted the latest advancements in HfZrSi precursor ceramic thermal insulation and fire-retardant composite coating technology. This technology produces high-performance ceramic coatings via precursor conversion, offering dual functionality of thermal insulation and fire resistance to provide reliable thermal protection for structural materials under extreme high-temperature conditions. It holds significant application potential in aerospace and national defense sectors.
